The Bucknell University Maker's Society (BUMS) promotes students gaining hands-on experience through participation in STEM projects. For example, this past semester, I combined my interests in fabrication and aerospace to create and facilitate a rocketry event. I taught students how to simulate and build model rockets from scratch that we then launched on campus. Through the Maker's club, I also help others learn how to operate machines on campus, such as 3D printers and laser cutters. Furthermore, I am able to provide a safe space for female engineers to ask questions as I teach them the hands-on engineering skills I have been fortunate to acquire thus far in my education and work experience.

Over the summer of 2021 I had the opportunity to intern at the United Bakery Equipment Firm. At the company I worked first hand with engineers to problem solve, design, and prototype a new machine within Solidworks. I also reviewed and created part and assemblies drawings of the Bread Slicing machine. I worked hands-on with the manufactures to program parts on MasterCam and create toolpaths for jobs. Learned to set-up and operate the CNC mills and lathes. I also created fixtures to hold the workpiece in place to be able to create desired features. I inspected dimensions for critical parts using calipers, height gauges, and micrometer. I learned to nest files and inspect parts before using the WaterJet cutter.
